LGBTQ+ individuals are more than twice as likely as heterosexual men and women to have a mental health disorder in their lifetime. They are also 2.5 times more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and substance misuse compared with heterosexual individuals, according to the American Psychiatric Association. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this situation, as many members of LGBTQ+ community, especially LGBTQ youth, have experienced increased poor mental health outcomes due the added stress of the COVID-19 pandemic and social unrest.
Syntero is pleased to announce that the Celebrate You support group, which provides support for LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-18, is accepting new clients. The free group explores and celebrates LGBTQ+ identity in its entirety, builds self-esteem, emotional knowledge and recognizes personal strengths while building solid connections with peers. This is a pro-social inclusive space for ALL and everyone is welcome! The group is currently meeting virtually and accepting new clients. For more information, please contact Jordan Allen, MSW, LSW, at 614.706.1546.
The group meets every first and third Monday from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.
