What Are Soft Skills and Why Are They Critical for Success in College?
A college degree can open doors to a successful, fulfilling career, but students require more than a solid academic foundation to be successful in college. As the first semester of freshmen year gets underway, many previously high-performing high school students fail to thrive academically in college, or find it difficult to cope with new stressors in an unfamiliar environment. What is often lacking is the proper development of soft skills that affect interpersonal interactions.
Syntero’s CollegeCountdown course teaches college-bound students and college freshmen how to effectively overcome obstacles, adapt to new environments and form productive relationships, and helps them develop the soft skills needed for success in college and beyond:
- Critical thinking
- Conflict management
CollegeCountdown 6-Week Truncated Program
The next CollegeCountdown workshop will be offered virtually in February. The six-week program begins on February 3rd. This session will be open to high school seniors and juniors in all school districts in Delaware and Morrow Counties. Participation is FREE!
College presents challenges that many academically strong students are not equipped to handle, such as disputes with roommates, seemingly insurmountable schedules and just adapting to a new environment. Additionally, the recent global pandemic has added a level of uncertainty for both parents and students. Through these presentations, Syntero clinicians will assist students in developing the soft skills needed to excel in the next phase of life.
To register, please email students’ names and school district information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
