Eating Disorders & Suicide

Syntero’s Eating Disorders and Suicide training will provide participants with a review of eating disorder etiology and definitions, information on different eating disorder diagnoses, and the neurobiology associated with eating disorders. Participants will learn to utilize different questionnaires and screeners to assess the presence and severity of an eating disorder, and will understand the link between eating disorders and increased risk for suicide.

This training is approved for one CEU through the CSWMFT Board for counselors and social workers and will be facilitated by Syntero Delaware City & Buckeye Valley School Services Coordinator Shelbey Mitchell, LISW-S, MSW.

Cost: $20 for community members; free for Syntero staff and interns

Internal Family Systems Therapy Training

In Syntero’s Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy training, attendees will be provided with an overview of the increasingly popular IFS Therapy model. The training will focus specifically on providing participants with a general understanding of the model, what sets it apart from similar approaches, and where to go for further training or resources. Attendees will leave having gained an understanding of the following:

  • An overview of the model and what it is all about
  • What distinguishes IFS from other models that conceptualize parts of self
  • The concept of self energy and the types of parts, with their respective roles according to IFS
  • The flow of the model
  • Where to go for more resources and further training

This training is approved for one CEU through the CSWMFT Board for counselors and social workers and will be facilitated by Syntero Clinical Site Manager Maggie Dangler, MSW, LISW-S.

Trauma and Dissociation Training

Advanced Techniques in Treating Complex Trauma & Dissociative Disorders

Presented by: Helen Hill, LISW-S & Cheri Kerr, PCC-S

Objectives: Participants will learn

  • Grounding/mindfulness, internal communication and internal cooperation
  • Managing problematic alter activity
  • Affect modulation, self-soothing and self care
  • Dealing with eating issues unique to this population
  • Discerning and intervening with ego state issues
  • Helping the clinician, and therefore the client, understand and intervene with the internal system

Participants are expected to have attended the 12-hour Fundamentals of Assessment and Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation training by the same presenters or to have experience in the diagnosis and treatment of Dissociative Disorders. If you have not attended the 12-hour Fundamentals training, attendance MUST be approved by the presenters, prior to registration.

Syntero is approved as a Continuing Professional Education provider of programs and adheres to the requirements of the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage & Family Therapist Board.  CSWMFT Board provider # RCS050605.   6 clock hours CEUs for Counselor/Social Workers will be provided.   • Historical and cultural aspects related to treatment of trauma related disorders
