Syntero offers continuing education trainings for staff and community members. Trainings are free for Syntero staff members and interns and only $20 per CEU for community members.
Gender Dysphoria and Letter Writing
In the Gender Dysphoria and Letter Writing training, attendees will gain knowledge relevant to the treatment of gender dysphoria and best practices for writing letters of support as outlined by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Workshop will include basics for supporting transgender and gender nonconforming individuals. Attendees will leave being able to: better diagnosis gender dysphoria and ask culturally competent assessment questions, gain a deeper understanding of concepts related to the diversity of human gender, especially as it relates to transgender and other gender minorities, identify and apply interventions best suited to treat/manage gender dysphoria, and better facilitate culturally competent letter writing process and collaborate with care team.
This training will be facilitated by Syntero LGBTQ+ Program Coordinator Michael Eblin, MSW, LSW. Past participants of this training are not eligible to receive CEUs.

Introduction to EMDR Trauma Treatment
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based treatment that has been found to be effective in treating PTSD and other trauma and stressor-related disorders. In this training, attendees will be provided with the following:

Information regarding the basics of EMDR, including acute traumatic incident processing (ATIP) and critical incident desensitization (CID)

A brief history of EMDR, how it works, and how it is used to process trauma
-
Aspects of EMDR that they can incorporate into their daily practice with clients
Please note: This training is an introduction to EMDR and does not meet the requirements for EMDR certification.

Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Eating disorders occur more frequently and have a higher mortality rate in adolescents than any other mental health disorder, affecting all socioeconomic groups, underrepresented populations, and sexual orientations. Eating disorders are even more common than Type 2 Diabetes in this age group. Yet eating disorders remain under-recognized, under-diagnosed, and under-treated.
After this training, participants will be able to:

Provide overview of the current research on eating disorders and adolescent population.

Identify warning signs and symptoms of eating disorders in adolescents and when to refer to a specialized provider.

Describe four levels of treatment for eating disorders and the modalities that are commonly used to treat eating disorders Identify appropriate ways to engage support systems in the conversation about eating disorders and treatment options.
