Syntero Mill Run Clinical Site Director, Maggie Dangler, was featured in a May 30, 2024 ADAMH of Franklin County story in The Columbus Dispatch highlighting PTSD Awareness Month and PTSD treatments.

In the article, titled ADAMH, Syntero bring awareness to PTSD and where to find help," Dangler discusses Syntero's comprehensive approach to treating PTSD for individuals aged 5 and up, explaining that all clinicians at Syntero are trauma-informed and capable of identifying and diagnosing PTSD, providing initial treatment, and linking clients to other supportive services. Syntero emphasizes skill-building to manage PTSD symptoms and uses various therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, internal family systems therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.

Dangler underscores the importance of ensuring clients' basic safety needs are met before addressing PTSD, such as resolving issues of homelessness or abuse. She also dispels the misconception that PTSD is a lifelong condition, asserting that with proper treatment, individuals can heal from trauma. Dangler advocates for a compassionate approach to supporting those with PTSD and recommends utilizing the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire to understand the impact of childhood trauma on long-term health outcomes.
